Naughty & Nice List of 2011

Year 2011 definitely means a lot to me. Makeup has become my major obsession. I started a blog which I could never think of. I tested a lot of products this year especially makeup items. Most of them I enjoy, but of course there are a few dislikes. I try to keep the list short with a limit of five of each category.

Let’s get the naughty products out of the way first. Surprisingly I don’t even have five regrets.
1. Benefit – Some Kind-A Gorgeous
It has no coverage as far as I'm concerned. Seriously, it can not even out my skin tone and I don’t have bad skin to begin with. Once I tried to put on extra layers to get more coverage and unfortunately it caked up. Moreover, it feels super oily.

2. Revlon – Photo Ready Foundation
I had really high hopes for it, but it turned me down. The application and coverage is quite nice. However, the finish is the killer. It leaves noticeable shimmer on my face which is not pretty.

3. Urban Decay – Lip Primer Potion
What a brilliant idea to primer the lips! Does it work? Noooo!!! It did nothing for my lips except drying them out. Yes, lipsticks go on smoother but after that they tend to cake up and set in the lines. Besides, I did not notice that color lasted longer with it on. Even so, I would never sacrifice pretty looks for lasting power.

Now, move on to favorites!
1. Oscar Blandi – Jasmine Oil Serum
I have very fine and thin hair and this product helps me a lot. It is very light, non-greasy and smells amazing. It is multi-purpose, but I mainly use it as a leave-in conditioner. I’d gone through my first bottle in three months and I did notice that my ends get so much healthier.
2. Korres – Wild Rose Serum
I haven’t noticed any brightening effects as it claims, but it is the perfect moisturizing serum for me. My skin feels so soft, smooth and hydrated with it. And it smells really good.
3. NARS – Sheer Glow Foundation
This is my love! It gives the most gorgeous finish, natural and glowing. I recommended to some of my friends and they all loved it. I would say the coverage is light to medium and you can build it up a little bit, but it is definitely not a full coverage foundation.
4. Tarte – Smolder Eye Pencils
They are super creamy, long lasting and pigmented.

5. Tarte – Amazonian Clay Blushes
I was debating between the Amazonian blushes and NARS’s blushes, and in my opinion the Amazonian blushes won. As NARS’s Blushes, they are smooth and pigmented. Also, they are super long-lasting. I’m not sure whether they last for 12 hours or not, but they definitely last at least eight hours for me. Lastly, they are a little bit cheaper.

What's on your list?

  1. Great picks! I had the same gripes with your least favs. I like the hello flawless powder from Benefit if you are looking for a powder.

  2. Thanks! I'm always hesitated to purchase Benefit's products because I've seldom had good luck with them. I tried High Beam and BadGal,and I hated them. The box powders are fine. I will definitely check out the flawless powder next time when I visit Sephora. Appreciated it!
