Wen – Cleansing Conditioner in Sweet Almond Mint

I finally broke down and purchased the Wen cleansing conditioner after heard so many good things about it.

Before I start, I have very fine, flat and straight hair.
I have mixed feelings about the product. It does make my hair glossy, silky and smooth, but in a few hours my hair gets super oily/greasy like I haven’t washed my hair for days. I usually wash my hair at night and in the next morning I always have to use a dry shampoo.
I’ve also noticed slightly more hair loss due to the product. One reasonable explanation I have is that the roots are extremely fragile when the hair is wet and too much rubbing/massaging contributes to hair loss.
The most important reason I won’t repurchase it is that it does not get my hair clean. After I shampoo, I can still find traces of dry shampoo in the roots which could possibly clog the pores in the scalp.
Overall, I don’t like the product. If you have the same hair type as me, I would not recommend it at all.

Empties and Purchases (4/22/12)

Here is another round of empties and purchases. I’ve been really enjoying doing those posts.

Origins – Drink Up Mask
It smelt nice and was quite moisturizing, but the scent was too strong to my taste personally. Besides, I would rather buy the aloe mask by The Body Shop.
Almay – Eye Makeup Remover Pads
It took off the eye makeup very effectively, but it was quite oily. Other than that, the pads were rather rough which I also hated.
Lancome – Bi Facil Eye Makeup Remover
It removed waterproof eye makeup with ease and I did like it a lot. The only reason why I would not repurchase is because I find the Clinique one works just fine and it is cheaper.
Maybelline – Sensational Lipstick in Born with It
This was my first lipstick and I had it for more than two years. I liked it, did not love it.
Products I will repurchase.

Too Faced – Matte Eye Shadow Collection

Today’s post is featuring the matte eye shadow palette by Too Faced. Since I got the sweet dream palette last December, I’ve always wanted to try more products by Too Faced and I finally picked up this palette recently.
The packaging is rather sleek which I like a lot.

There are nine shadows and they are all matte.

They all swatch very nicely. Even though they are not the most pigmented shadows, they are quite nice as far as matte shadows go. My favorites are Tufted Suede, Chinchilla and Vintage Violet.

The only thing I don’t like the palette is that a few shades look almost identical on the eyelids, especially London Fog and Midnight.

Six days left to enter the giveaway!

I’m really trying to condense my nail polish collection and there are quite a few that I’ve barely used. I was a little bit hesitated to include them in the giveaway, but I figured it would be better to give them away than toss them out. So please let me know if you would like to receive them as a part of the giveaway.
1 Revlon – Steel-her Heart
1 Revlon – Silver Screen(NOTD)
1 Revlon – Plum Night
1 Revlon – Minted

For the first three, I've only worn them once and no more than three times for the rest.

MAC - Whisper of Gilt

Today’s featured product is Whisper of Gilt by MAC from the new collection (IN EXTRA DIMENSION). There were three shades and I picked up the lightest one.
I seriously don’t need any more highlighters, but I’m still very happy to have it. I’m not sure why MAC describes it as a liquid-powder highlighter because it just feels like  powder to me.
It is very smooth and finely milled.
After blended in, it gives this beautiful golden sheen.

Empties and Purchases (Revised Project Pan)

I would not say project 100 pan is a completely fail, but I did purchase quite a few items yesterday. So I decided to make compromise between project pan and the urge to shop. What I will be doing from now on is that I cannot buy anything until I finish a certain amount of products. Since I do go through skincare products very fast, 10 is the minimum for each round.
First, I will start on those products I won’t repurchase.

Giovanni – Shampoo and Conditioner
I hated both of them. The shampoo was quite drying and the conditioner was not that nourishing. Besides, it smells minty and earthy which I am not a huge fan of. On the top of that, my roots got oily very fast when I was using them.
I didn’t like the Jurlique skincare line at all. If you’re interested, please check out my review on them.
Korres – Antiaging Primer
I really didn’t get the primer. I didn’t find my foundation last longer with it on. It was like a moisturizer to me except that it was not hydrating.
Skin79 – Pearl BB Cream
The only thing I didn’t like about the bb cream is the noticeable shimmer. It made my face like a disco ball, but it did work as a primer for me. It did not lengthen the wear of my foundation, but I did like the lit-from-within effect.
Now move on the stuff which is ok, but not good enough for me to repurchase.

They were all very nice, but if I could find something better, I would’t repurchase them.
I liked the extra coverage the MAC msf gave, but it did not control the oil that well.
This is what I will repurchase.

Haul: Wen Hair Products

I know it might not be the most appropriate time to do the haul post, but I’ve been out of everyday shampoos and using the deep clarifying shampoo instead for the past few days which I usually use once a week to get off all the build-up.
I ordered the 30-day supply set from the official website. There are five products.

I can’t wait to try them out. Have you tried any of the products?

Jurlique – Maintain Balance Kit

The packaging of the Jurlique items is really simple and cute which I like a lot. The foggy glass containers are my favorites. As to the products themselves, I’m not so impressed. I really appreciate that the products are formulated without parabens, sulfates and so on, but I still believe the products by the brand in general are overpriced.

Balancing Foaming Cleanser
I don’t find it cleanses extremely well and I would say it is about average. It lathers well, but the herbal scent is not my favorite.
Rosewater Balancing Mist
The mist is the only item I might consider repurchasing. I usually don’t care for heavily scented skincare products, but the rose smell is really nice. Personally I think toners play an important role in the skincare routine in a sense that they prepare the skin for the following steps. Aside from the scent, the mist is rather fine which can be also used as a refreshing spray. The only downside I find is that it burns my eyes when I accidentally spray it too much around my eye area.
Herbal Recovery Gel
Again I like the container, but don’t care for the scent at all. I just don’t find it does anything to my skin.
Balancing Day Care Cream
For my dry/combination skin, it does keep the oil at bay without drying out the skin, but I just hate the smell.
Overall, I don’t like the set at all. I feel like that there are so many better products with a fraction of the price.
